The car-specific forums on BW are fine; either people behave themselves or the moderators watch them, and I don't really care which.

OD over there is the train wreck.

I was trying to contact 240Joe to test drive the car, but you guys bent me over backwards and screwed the hell out of me. Thanks alot.
And no, I dont need to be "Saved from buying a shiit car"
I know enough about cars to avoid being stuck with a total money pit. I always check fluids when looking at a car. I know sounds to look for from past cars Ive driven/owned

I was the first guy to respond via email to his ad and I could have gotten it for a great price if I verified that it was in fact a good, maintained car. You guys may not have known totally 100% that it whas a worn out old POS, but I could have found out just exactly what condition it was in.

I make minimum wage and that is one of the only cars I could afford

So thanks alot for flooding his email so any attempts of me contacting him were lost amidst hundreds of spam emails, fluckbags

The OD forums are very loosely controlled. You have to go pretty extreme to get any moderator interference in there.

No problem BBJ, we probably saved you from many unknown horrors with that car.

I can assure you that most people here did not flood his email account. While I'm open to believe that someone (or a few people) did, I won't take 'Ol Joe at his word.

I tend to act like I've never seen the screen name, "240Joe." He is a first-class troll, bringing absolutely nothing into a discussion but his ego.

Do yourself a favor and search on his old posts, you will get some idea how much he really abused that car.

You really didn't want to buy his car. You can do much better for $750, not to mention the $1000s in "deferred maintenance" that thing would end up costing you in the long run. These cars can get very expensive if they've been neglected/abused.

Sorry. Its just that looking for a used car around here sucks. First you have the rusted out pos's, then youve got jokers wanting a huge amount for the ones that are in okay shape. I look in Ebay all the time but theres never one local. Theyre either out west or some place like Tennesse (theyve got alot of used cars there for some reason)

I found one for a decent price that I wouldnt mind checking out and the guy never contacts me back for 4 days til I find him on a forum. Its just frustrating looking for a good deal on a used car when you dont make crap

Not too far. Too bad you weren't around this board last November. I sold a good running '83 300SD with body damage for $45. It needed more in bodywork than it was worth, but it drove just fine.

I've also bought numerous workable cars for very cheap prices when I was in school. The deals seem to fall out of the sky, if you wait in the right place.
