And did you notice crude hitting $80/barrel this week? Raw ingredients are getting pretty expensive. As noted above, we'll also soon see the rollover to home heating oil production, which tends to reduce diesel production.

Hey, it's still cheap compared to the rest of the civilized world.

Cheers, John

I drive a diesel, I would be fine with gas at $5 and diesel at $2. right now, diesel is at $3.09 in WV.

I can get diesel at a couple stations here in Grand Rapids, MI for about $2.89-2.94, but ALL speedways went from $2.85 to $3.15 overnight last week. I paid $3.17 a gallon for an entire tank of B20 on Sunday...cost a fortune! Excellent fuel though, runs great on it.

Whats most interesting is that the price of diesel went up a ton about 2 days after the US oil system reported "more than expected supply" of diesel inventories...and "significantly less than expected" supplies of gasoline. What gives???!?

This seems to be definitely a US problem. North of the border diesel has been stable at our local station at 93.8 cents/litre ALL summer and B20 at 97.5 cents/litre. Gas bounces around all over the place between 94 and 104 cents per litre depending on demand on any particular day. Most stations in Toronto change their gas prices several times a day......

If you convert you will notice that ALL our prices are higher than yours! Gotta pay for healthcare somehow

LOL, americans just enjoy whining about fuel prices (and just about everything else, too). We we're complaining when it was $0.30/gallon, sort of a national pastime.

I guess it depends on whether you are selling or buying.

Read the report, the CPI for energy is actually down, although the petroleum portion is up a little. A modest amount of growth (and inflation) is healthy, why do you think the fed reduced interest rates a few days ago?
