Hi Kerry,

As far as my information goes, the turbo OM616 was used on the 4xx class and Tempo Traveler and sold by MB in Europe, most possibly Eastern Europe. So if I were you, I would take a look there. Tempo Traveler has been sold world wide by MB including Asia and Africa. The regular Traveler sold with 80bhp OM617 n/a but they also made and sold versions with OM616 turbo, also with 4WD.

That sounds decent, my dealer gave me a price of about $7K for a 617 turbo crate. That's probably what I will buy when the time comes. I figure that I can have my indy do the labor and replace all the auxiliary stuff for about $9K total. Hopefully, it will be another couple of years before I need to do the engine.

Those are remanufactured (rebuilt) engines, not new from the factory.

Which is precisely why I turned to Force Motors, looking for a 616. They made the things new in their Foundry until a very short time ago.
