A little bitter are we?

I lived in Spokane for 2 years, loved it! I would go back in a second.

I lived in Spokane myself and loved it too! I neve said ALL of the northwest is crap and Spokane is a totally different world than Seattle! Spokane is a conservative city with GENUINE people who look out for each other, has pistol packin' grandma's and friendly neighbors who vlounteered to feed my dogs and water my plants and I never felt uncomfrotable about giving Julie, my next door neighbor my keys! There are places in Washington I loved, but the rulers live in the most liberal sections and force their will on everyone else and I will NEVER go back to Seattle!

For everyone reading my post, THE NORTHWEST IS NOT SEATTLE WASHINGTON! NOR IS IT PORTLAND OREGON! Portland is much better than Seattle.

Yeah, maybe I'm a little bitter, but I was made that way, not born into it! I never thought I would be f**ked over on a constant basis by the ones who were closest to me, neighbors and so called friends! I never thought I would ever have to pay to have my neighbors watch my place only to come home and wonder where my TV, Stereo, Mom's jewelry, Grandma's silver and other valuables were! Knowing it was my "friends" or my landlord did not make it any better! The worst things that ever happened to me from others happened to me in Seattle, so maybe I'm jaded. I'm not the only one and for GREAT reasons.

A woman was raped and beaten to DEATH right under a street lamp about 3 blocks from my house and my Libocrite Coward Chicken ***** neighbors did NOTHING! Not even call the cops!!!! (I wasn't home or I would have grabbed my Ruger M40 and put a stop to it!) Everyone heard her scream for her life as she was strangled in plain sight! Could you honestly say this would NOT change you???? It was all over the news and even the media was disgusted! I was sick to my stomach and her body was left there for 2 1/2 hours and the cops never came untill it was almost morning and a commuter found her in the middle of the road in his way! He told the news reporters he could not drive around her and decided to call the police!!!!?? UNBELIEVABLE!

Physically, the Northwest is some of the most beautiful countryside I have ever been in. Seattle is just in this totally screwed up Bermuda triangle of non-reality. Maybe because it also has the highest rates of Narcotics addiction in the USA, I don't know.

I have to say that the Pacific Northwest is beautiful, And they are going to tax us right out of it. $30 plates, + add on fees. including a fee for how heavy the car is...

Yeah! Funny isn't it? When I was in Washington, I was part of a tax revolt that brought down our licensing cost from higher than Michigan rates to 30$! I still cannot believe what an uphill battle it was to get ANYONE to CARE about ANYTHING for 3 years!!

I like Michigan, but your tax rates in your state are what is driving out business! Isn't anyone horrified that Detroit used to be a brainpower capitol of the world in 1950 and even as late as 1975 with a population of 1.8 million people and now there is barely 900,000 left there and it continues to shrink because of Michigan's high tax rate?

I guess for me it is not the $30. It is the idea that the "people" finally forced the plate cost to go down to that ammount. Now they are just finding ways around what the people told them to do.
they will vote down a tax, so if we make it a fee, we can charge more for it... oh look, an engine displacement fee... oh, look a weight fee on a car... oh look a fee for....
I guess I just have an issue with people being deceiving..

Guess that is what the gov does best...

It's sad, but very true. And Nero fiddles as Rome burns. I've contacted my Representative, been told there'll be action, lip service. I'm "outta here" if I can ever give my house away.

And the most liberal states are setting the trend! Here is Arizona, people still have a pair and will call out their senators to the carpet on the issues. We aren't perfect, but when I can drive my Benz, my Dodge Ram or my motorcycle wearing my pistol, I'm in the right place! I'm definitely a conservative and maybe even a redneck, and if so PROUD OF IT!

He's a blue-blood republican, a RINO (Republican In Name Only), and a "Compassionate Conserative". Just like McCain. I knew what he was when i voted for him, a liberal establishment republican POLITICIAN. Yup, a politician, he goes with the crowd -- and that crowd is just a bunch of mind-numbed robots.

If you want Bubba to get rid of his silly $40K truck, you are going to have to cost him significantly more cash. Most folks will just drive what they want and pay the tax, but it is an interesting gesture.
If they actually wanted to change people's behavior and get them to buy smaller, more fuel efficient vehicles, they should raise the gas tax by a huge increment and post signs on every pump thanking drivers for their tax contribution. The weekly reminder would do more than the annual fee, even if it ended up costing drivers less.

I agree, but I don't think you would want to do it all at once. Maybe a $0.50 per year increase over 5 years. That would give people time to get into more efficient vehicles. But, it's not about to happen.

Me too, it really makes me wonder about folks. I should probably just discuss MBs on here.

You guys don't even pay any sales tax when you buy a new car. Give me a effing break!
Those effing democrooks who some how get voted in come up with the sneakiest ways to get around the tax limiting laws that get voted in by the majority of the voters by getting them ruled unconstitutional or making up new fees to rape the hard working public.

It's said that you can't complain if you don't vote. Well I do vote, every single time. It's getting very obvious to me no matter how much I vote, some ********* in government is thumbing their nose at us and getting what they want and not what the people want.
I'm ready to move to Canada or the EU any time. The US is sucking more and more every year.

That's a new one... we do not have sales tax in Oregon... we do have a sizeable income tax. More than a few in SW Washington who don't pay state income tax free load on WA sales tax by shopping in Oregon... there's a reason all the big box stores are just over the border ;-). Vancouver and other 'border towns' are a tax shelter and filled with people who have politics similar to you.

I vote too.
