I wonder if the beer has changed over the centuries? Was Schlitz in the late 1800's THE beer to drink or was it the novelty?

Didn't an american company steal the name Budweiser and there is still litigation over the use of it in america?

The American emigrants had the right to use the Budweiser name in North America... Current litigation involves NA Budweiser exports to Europe...

The REAL Budweiser is "Budvar" from the Czech Republic. It is not available in the US due to copyright infringement, which is a damned shame as it is good beer, unlike that dish Wasser that is pumped out of St. Louis.
