Which part is bs? Their NA rated HP? Or their statement about 170hp?

I asked about an out put shaft adapter to the MBZ drivetrain.

Both the 135 HP claim and the "easy" 170 HP claim

I think 170hp at the crank with upped boost and upped fuel is not unbelievable. At the wheel it sure is.

The best upgrades for a diesel MB would be all the parts for a cheap-o t5 swap, and a custom adapter to use a Seltec or other universal compressor for the A/C. I just have to buy a machine shop first.

the getrag 265 is still a much easier swap, same input spline and same rubber drive shaft mount. T5's and NV3500 are too long to work with the drive shaft bearing on the frame and the shifter location is not easily modified. the NV4500 is the biggest junkiest clunkiest trans I have ever shifted, and I seriously doubt it would fit as it is really tall in addition to the long tailshaft

Yeah. Im not to hot on this idea. I would try to put a manual bmw tranny in a mercedes before doing this.

Not a bad looking kit for swapping a 617 into a 4x4. Going the other way, swapping a GM trans. into a 123 might, leave a bit to be desired.

And definitely not with an MW-pump.

If my stock Mercedes-Benz clutch fork and/or throwout bearing will fit the GM clutch, then that would be great. I could use their flywheel and a GM clutch. I wouldn't need an adapter plate since the 617 engine bolts right up to my manual transmission--I just need a flywheel and clutch to make the parts work with each other. I wonder how much they would charge for just the flywheel itself...

this adapter is not geared towards peeps wanting to replace their slushbox in a mbz, it is for peeps looking for an excellent diesel engine to transplant into various other vehicles.

rockcrawlers, ground up truck resto's, etc.

the thought of a chevy tranny in my benz makes me kinda ill.....

but $1k is right on par w/ most other adapters. and w/ the flywheel, etc, seems to be a decent deal.

That's right. 4-wheelers have been dreaming about this swap for a long time. (Some have gone and done it. )

These guys have been talking about these adapters for years. Looks like they've got a prototype built now...Good for them. $1000 with a flywheel seems reasonable to me. Looks like they're still a ways to get them to market. Don't hold your breath. I see a picture of the plate but not one with the tranny bolted to it.

I would have rather seen them stick with the Benz flywheel and work back from that. Guess it really doesn't matter.

This guy makes an kit to replace the A/C compressor. $500 I think with the compressor. There are additional kits to convert to R134a. I think the whole kit cost me $1800. Sounds steep, but price all the hoses, condensor, evaporator, compressor etc. Unfortunately, I bought most of those items before I saw this kit. I'll have to E-Bay what I have gathered sometime. I think the bottom MB hose is about $350 alone.

I think I will need one anyway since 617 flywheels are almost non-existant, though I did see one on eBay the other day for $300. I am also interested in the dry sump system since my oil tower is in the way and it needs to be relocated or replaced.
