At your peril, compared to the Billstein, enjoy the judders.

"...judders" Do you mean harshness?

Are you saying that mixing the 2 brands may cause an uneven response? ie..steering?

Would SAchs-boge be more appropriate to mix w/ billstein on the front end?

Its almost like putting a different tire.......even though Gabriel might claim same damping rates, experience tells me otherwise as the Gabriels tend to fade quickly with heavy use and bottom out after that. Nothing will come close to the Billstein.

Are you sure that you did not have some other suspension problem? Your experience does not match the data.
Now throw a new set of Bilsteins on and be amazed.

Sach's are a good choice as well.

Comforts on a 140 are heaven. Comforts on a 126 are as much as I'll tolerate. Comforts on a 124 along with 205/55-16s are too stiff for my taste. I mean, really, I don't mind slowing down for turns. And just my luck that Bilsteins don't wear out

Bilsteins on the Suburban are similarly too stiff for my taste but it handles better than a boat that size should on 265/75-16s.

I really enjoy the Sensa-Trac coilovers on our minivan. Not sure I'd use them on a German car.

I'm not sure what kind of experience you've had with Adsit. Of course, I've bought from Phil who is great that's why I always name him first. But I've also been using Performance Products and Adsit for probably 15 years and never had a bad experience with either one. From Adsit, I've purchased body side trim for my coupe, rebuilt Bosch alternators and starters, HD shocks and more (and my son got a used transmission for his SL from them) with very satisfactory outcomes on all. Crooks are a few of the dirt bags on Craig's List and eBay.

Cheers!

Adsit does not own up to sending the wrong part. Their policy absolves them of responsibility for their mistakes. Your only recourse is filing a claim with your credit card company, if that's how you paid, or legal action. They're okay to deal with if you don't mind paying return shipping for the wrong part and shipping for the [hopefully correct] replacement. You'll get an earful if you suggest they should pay for their mistakes.

I took them out of my sd and three of four shocks were so stiff I could hardly compress them and they took about 20 seconds to re-extend resulting in an extremely bad ride quality. That is unacceptable for 20k

Kayaba is KYB and I'm sorry to say they are not in the same league as Bilstein. The quality and longevity of a Bilstein is at a much higher level. KYB will work but they are not the same as Bilsteins. For an MB, stick with Bils or Sachs-Boge. They will give the ride and handling Daimler intended for the Benz.

How about Bilstein vs Sachs/Boge? Any particular difference?

Sachs/Boge usually came on the car from the factory. Bilstein's just have a better public reputation plus they offer two flavors.

I have Bilstein comforts on mine. They work and ride great.

For the W124 chassis anyway, Sachs/Boge has the standard and heavy duty units as well. My car probably still has the original Bilsteins that came from the factory, last I checked.

How about performance difference between Bilstein and Sachs/Boge?
