Great looking car. Thanks for sharing the story and the picture...love an older Mercedes. There really is something romantic about them.

My coupe has the same gold color. Also it has the maroon red interior. It's kind of like a 1970's McDonalds, I have no idea why it was special ordered in those colors. Not the most flattering color combo, but my car does get compliments and offers to buy. An old couple said I was very classy to own this car.

The first year I owned mine, I got comments like that once in a while. Lately though, I have to work even to say it about my own car... the paint is really starting to suffer (the roof has these chalky white spots about four inches in diameter starting to show up where the sun beats on it) and it's got a dent in the rear quarter panel that I haven't had repaired yet... it's a small dent, but the problems all add up and it just doesn't look that great anymore. Well, that, and the fact that the front seats are about ready to fall out of it in pieces.

It still keeps going down the road though :-/

Despite the crappy paint on my '81 300D, I still hear comments like that from time to time. Makes me happy to know that some people still have good taste.

Generally speaking when you get a $500 TD in perfect condition a post like this makes you look like a complete a$$hat.

Nice car a$$hat

I had gotten complements with the old TD before which was in pretty good shape. The new one has mismatched fenders, nobody compliments the way it looks. One friend borrowed it to move some chairs and did say he was very surprised at how much power it had.

At work I have valet parking but I park it my self. Once I had this hot model practically fall out of her jeep to catch me at the elevator to tell me she liked my car alot. I mean *smoking* hot. The only good thing anyone has said about my car that wasn't specific to the way it handled or the power.

I hope getting a new paint job will change that some.

The only car that has ever gotten me laid was an air cooled vw bug and more than once! I think girls just liked the idea of watching 6'2" of my try to get it on in tha back seat of a bug
