I just did some research!

I am hearing mixed reviews on the cetane of turpentine, though. Some say it has less, while others say it has a cetane of like 130
Either way, the consensus is that it helps atomize the fuel. I assume it is safe for the IP then?

Interesting stuff; I never really knew what turpentine was, other than horrible for your health if you injested it or huffed it

Race Track - or places that sell racing fuel. It's got fairly pricey in the last 8 months ($4.78 @ gal.) but still cheaper than a jug of Power Service and that's basically diluted methane

Could that methane be super dangerous to store in the garage? Is it highly flammable? Maybe I am thinking of nitrous since you talked about getting some of it at the track.

It's more volatile than RUG but I wouldn't consider it especially dangerous. It's the fuel used in NHRA cars (funny cars and drags)

Ah yes, the Top Fuelers! Instead of a burnout, we get to have a smoke out.

Just wait till 2010 for DME (diesel Methanol fuel) It has a cetane number of 55 and sulfur free

From Wikipedia.org
DME is a promising fuel in diesel engines,[4] petrol engines (30% DME / 70% LPG), and gas turbines owing to its high cetane number, which is greater than 55 compared to diesel, which is 40–53.[5] Only moderate modification are needed to convert a diesel engine to burn DME. The simplicity of this short carbon chain compound leads during combustion to very low emissions of particulate matter, NOx, CO. For these reasons as well as being sulfur-free, dimethyl ether meets even the most stringent emission regulations in Europe (EURO5), U.S. (U.S. 2010), and Japan (2009 Japan).[6] DME is being developed as a synthetic biofuel (BioDME), which can be manufactured from lignocellulosic biomass.[7] Currently the EU is considering BioDME in its potential biofuel mix in 2030,[citation needed] the Volvo Group is the coordinator for the European project BioDME.[8][9] and Mobil is using it in their methanol to gasoline process. The image below illustrates some of processes from various raw materials to DME.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dimethyl_ether

Also you can use Alkyl nitrates and di-tert-butyl peroxide for cetane boost... These compounds sounds dangerous
OR
Use animal fat biodiesel It has cetane rating of 53-60!!!

Also what is the Cetane rating on RUG? Is there a mathmatic formula? I already know RUG is 87 octane.
Gasoline has very low cetane, not to mention no lubricity, so it has no place in a diesel fuel system. I usually use 1 oz / 10 Gal of Redline 85+ mixed with a standard dose of DieselPower Cetane Boost from the bigger 20 oz bottles. I have found this to be a cost-effective combo that results in slightly better pickup and quieter engine operation. It would also disperse some water, help keep the injectors clean, and boost the lubricity somewhat.

Biodiesel has very good cetane, but a potential problem with mixing it in your tank is water dropping out of the mix because of biodiesel's higher water solubility and the washing process in the production of biodiesel that saturates it with water.

I'm really looking forward to the day when we get widely available synthetic diesel, aka GTL diesel. Its cetane is known to be well over 50, and can be as high as 70 or so. Plus it's chemically pure and naturally sulfur-free.

Expensive? $6.95 for 12oz bottle and You need 2oz per tank (after initial cleanup dose)

It's quite a different diesel when treated with RedLine, RL-2 and RL-3 was great too but I run 85+ winterized now

According to RedLine, 85+ is the same product, different bottle. Used to be different, but not in years.
