Don't semi truck drivers leave the engine running all night while they sleep?
Prolly DI engines, but none the less.

You can let it run all night...just not in the garage.

Open the garage door a crack and run a hose out the open door, so no one dies in the night of Carbon monoxide poisoning

Open the door all the way up. Better still, pull it out of the garage, if you are going to let it run.

Agreed. If it is an attached garage, even putting an exhaust hose out the garage door would be risky. If it vibrated loose and fell off, you might never wake up. HOWEVER, if it is an attached garage, leave the door into the garage from the house open, and maybe even set up a small fan to blow warm air from the house into the garage instead. It will stay plenty warm enough for the car to start.

detached garage? maybe with an extension on the muffler going out- like repair shops have.
attached garage? no way. CO2 kills. it will stay warm enough if the garage is attached, I bet. also could leave a light on under the oil pan- like this. ![]() or an electric blanket wrapped around the engine. or go to fleet farm and get an oil pan heater for $20. if you leave it out, you can unhook the vac line that goes to the shutoff valve so then you can lock the column and the car.
