Can't you simply get the '95 E300D with the 606 all ready to go without any efforts? What's the downside? That's quite the combo for the last year of the W124..........maybe the lack of the turbo??

The trim level on the diesel variants was not as extravagant as some of the "fully loaded" models that were availabe in the gasoline powered variants.

honestly, I'm okay w/o having the car phone.

the door sills would be nice... what else did these things come with?!

i have rear window shade, and locking center box, headlight cleaning pkg, seat heat & leather interior...

anyone else feel like these doors don't close quite like they'd expect?! there are days I feel bad if I even THINK about slamming the doors, but then... i'll baby push em and it won't latch.

EDIT: oh oh oh. I forgot. I have ASD

Your '95 sounds quite heavily optioned compared to most.....
I would love the rear shade!

Jimmy, nice ride. Honeymoon over yet? Did you get your A/C working? I had a similar problem when I bought my '95. The tach would intermittantly work. There is a comparitor circuit that compares the compressor tach to the engine tach. I had to replace the engine tach sensor at the tranny, then my car started pumping cold air.

Cheers!

Well, the honeymoon isn't over but I really don't drive it much.
Matter of fact I just filled it up for the 2nd time last week. Got over 600+ miles on that tank, and it ended up getting 33.37mpg!!!!! I filled it up all the way to the fuel cap {} so I know my mileage/fuel consumed was accurate. That was with AC and a split between highway and city driving. I was pleasantly surprised.
AC works really well. The new OVP relay did the trick with the tach.
I love this chassis and I'm super pleased with the power plant. I just fear the 4 remaining glow plugs I haven't had to change.
I just hate that it sits outside in 100+ degree weather and bakes. Even under a car cover it gets into the high 130's in there!!

**edit**
Oh yea, I forgot about the AC issue, the fan. Yes, it still has an 80amp glow plug relay fuse in it! And I was just at the dealer Friday getting shifter bushings and forgot to get the strip fuse. Rats....

Yes. Doors on my 95 don't close very well. Doors on the 85 close like you would expect from a MB. I think its junky weatherstripping more than anything.

how many people have you made that offer to?!

I still love mine. no "complaints" thus far. not having a cup holder is annoying. but then again... mine on the 210 is broken... so i'd much rather just not have one...

oh oh oh. and if I use the windshield washer @ night. i tend to eat thru fluid with headlight wipers & such... I like the way my W210 is set up with the xenons & its own button for headlight cleaning

First oil change for the Batmobile.....

Yes, I've owned this car now for just under a year, and today was my first oil change. Sounds amazing, but I have only driven it almost 3000 miles exactly since I purchased it on inauguration day last year. I believe the oil was changed fairly close to my purchase time, and the previous owner appeared to use synthetic, so no biggie.......
Again, my specific car threads such as this one are mainly so I can keep a timeline going. I guess some day I might need a blog.
So, up the car went on the ramps. I love living out where we do, but at times a nice concrete driveway would be nice.

Next I had to do something I have never done during an oil change: remove lower engine cover. Only takes a second.

Removed oil cap and set it on a rag, then off with the drain plug.

I have never seen synthetic oil drain, but you can visually tell a difference. At least it looked different to me. Softer somehow...... {nebulous, I know}

This brings up an interesting question. The oil drain plug had a metal washer with a rubber lip on the inside. My Bosch filter only had the normal copper washer supplied which I used. Is this rubber rimmed washer something I need to make sure and have for future oil changes? I'm guessing the copper washer will seal, but has this other style been determined to work better? Interesting......

These next pics were done on reassembly, but the only difference on this oil change and oil changes on my W123's is that there is a 3rd 13mm, right in the middle of the oil filter assy cover which allows you to remove the tube that goes down through the oil filter. Without this setup you could never get all of that out of the very tight space back against the firewall and behind the intake manifold.

The oil filter looks pretty much just like a W123 oil filter, and I used a genuine Bosch. Heck, I can't remember where I got these from. Seems like a state west of Texas somewhere.......

Got everything back together and put in about 7qts of Rotella T synthetic 5W40. I couldn't find Mobile 1 Synthetic Diesel Truck oil in the 2 Autozones I went to. Weird. But the Rotella will be more than fine.
Since this is the only MB diesel that I have that doesn't burn so much as a drop of oil I made certain that I didn't overfill the engine. On my test drive around the back roads here my low oil light came on. {man, I'd wear that light out on China and Smash!! haha...... } I pulled over to make sure it wasn't spewing out of the filter housing or at the drain plug and all was dry. I was just about 1/2 to 3/4 qt low so I topped off with a bit more when I got home. Will check level before I drive it again, maybe next weekend.
It is tucked back under the cover for now. Another successful maintenance item done.......
