Sorry for not having much up recently...things have been a little crazy. So far all I've had the time to do is take the motor out of the Rover and get it started on a rebuild (going to sell it). Also purchased the OM617 (which is what I decided on), and have upper-end gaskets and valve stem seals for it waiting to take the top of it apart.
As for the adapter, you don't need to cut the MB trans because Mercedes kindly places a stock "adapter plate" between the transmission and the motor. I'm simply planning on using the motor side of the MB plate as a pattern for half of the new one (the motor side obviously), then I'm going to measure things up and probably align them and transfer dye the bolt hold on the Rover trans to the other side of the plate (I'm going to take it out to do this, and I might decide to use a transfer punch to confirm placement... I'll put more up when I have the chance. joeblack, do you mean manual transmissions or shop manuals for the Rover? If you want a shop manual for it you can get one on CD from D.A.P Land Rover (www.dap-inc.com). I don't know if this site deletes all url addresses, but that's: www(dot)dap-inc(dot)(com) just in case. |
