So, I got this engine

for free.. Well, pretty much just need to verify and go pick it up..

All I know is its a 90's mercedes turbo diesel that was being put into a boat. Its out of a car not a marine engine.

So, just thinking before I get it.. what should I do with it if it turns out I am indeed getting it.. Should I sell it or put it in something lol

Key notes

I have access to a Mazak machine, water jet, engineering software out the wazoo, laser cutter, and a dimensional printer. So I can pretty much make anything as long as I do the CAD and buy the metal.

lol.. I kinda want to put a diesel in a delorean... a northstar, 2jz turbo, porsche motor, Chevy 350 has been done.. I dont see why not an om 603 or w/e it is... I have access to one of those cnc machines so anything I need is as easy as paying for the materials and doing the engineering on my time.

Yeah, please post it here. We all want to know.

Hey TheDon.
Put the diesel engine in an air boat or find a car that needs that engine.

Who said it was going to be in your neighborhood?

I was thinking.......since you don't have a place to park your 300SDL inside, you could make a barge; build a big air conditioned garage\workshop on it. You could park is on any large body of public water.....then you would have a place OUTSIDE your neighborhood to strip parts, redo cars, and work on your "boat".

I think the potential is there, TheDon. I know you could find an old barge around somewhere......

My suggestion was what others have done, put it into a jeep and keep the 4x4. Especially if Don has access to a cutter.

I didn't post it here, as I knew he and I would banter back and forth a bit, and it would clutter up the thread.
