The last thing I want to do is start the nozzle debate back up via this thread.

PM'd bgkast even though he's got a bold "not taking injector orders right now" on his page. if i don't hear back within the day i guess i'm just going to bite the bullet and pay the guys in binghamton tomorrow.

You could do as I did. Go out and spend $800.00 for an OTC nozzle-rater!
![]() I use it at my work so it is actually an essential tool for me and no, I don't rebuild other peoples' injectors before you ask. ![]() $36 isn't bad for the rebuild and rating process. Figure on almost an hour shoptime for two injectors. Yeah, I'm sure it can be cheaper in other locales but, when it's their ball ya gotta play by their rules. You're paying for the convenience of not having to ship the injectors. |

I've never heard of this "Monark" brand. Where are they made, anyone know? The Fratelli Bosio's I'm using are made in Italy and are very popular with the tuners in Europe.

Is Karl Jaentsch still alive? He used to be Mr. Diesel in Ithaca, but that was 20 years ago, if not more.

the monarks are from hamburg germany. they're somehow different in their design that makes flow easier or something. those who use biodiesel and svo swear by them as does anyone i've ever heard who put them in to run regular diesel. i forget the details of why they're different but i've heard no complaints.
this looks like it all just adds up to me getting them done by the pros and paying what they're asking...just was hoping to get it cheaper as i'm about to buy a 4 spd tranny with all extra parts for the conversion ![]() ![]() ![]()

The Bosch Nozzles for 617 engines have drillings at #14 and #15 through witch idle and low quantity’s of fuel pass through. The Monark Nozzles and the Bosch Nozzles for the later Mercedes do not have the drillings and use a Facet (I believer they are referred to as 265s); a flat portion on one side of the Pintel to accomplish the same end. The difference is that I believe it is easier for the drilled parts to become clogged with carbon that the Faceted Pintles. Bosios have neither drilling or facets. ![]()
