I'm not sure, I haven't bought one in a few years.

That seems to be correct.
The assembly has been out of stock for a very long time.

Classic Center (USA) Response

There are no plans in the immediate future to reproduce this part. Not enough demand and the manufacturing costs are prohibitive.

Kind regards, / Mit freundlichen Grüßen,

Did they run out of the VCV again? There was just a batch made within the last few years.

I have a gaggle of good working VCV for sale and (as of now) new prices.

W123 coupe seat pads, there are none left in Germany, the dealer, classic center, GAHH, or elsewhere. Interior parts in rare/ugly colors (Henna) are not available. Old Mercedes have great parts availability, MB likely wants to keep some oldtimers on the road.

Many parts have been picked up by the aftermarket buying the rights.

If FastLane wants to reproduce parts, I know a great little machine/custom plastic injection molding shop back in WA. Great guys, they really know their stuff.

I don't like this, someone on benzworld.org claims the heater core (002 835 30 01) for the W123 to be out of production.

I saw that post, too. I contacted the Classic Center to see what they have to say about that.

I knew there was a reason that I was hoarding... err... I mean collecting those. Ah, sweet vindication! Seeing as that's the switch that my car uses, I'm glad that I have managed to pick up three or four nice looking examples over the past few years.

There is, of course, the distinct possibility that aftermarket manufacturers will pick up on some stuff. The real problem comes from whether or not the replacements will be of acceptable quality. Kind of makes you want to go take repair lessons from a Cuban mechanic, eh? Something like that might just come in handy if you really want to keep some of these older diesels on the road.
