iwrock just stopped by my office, and left me these!

he stopped by my house on monday to drop off that electric fan and told me he had a network admin job at a company that does electro plating. I told him to ask them what they could do with my injector lines... what do you think?

crashone,

The driveshaft is in the works. I talked to my dad and hes going to help me do the welding. I just got the stock driveshaft out of the car this last weekend. its fat, then goes thin again. I think i can cut it in the thin section at the rear, and then weld on a bit from the 240d shaft i have, since its the smaller size.

I'm going to get the manual installed on the engine and then make some measurements just to be 100% sure before I make the shaft.

iwrock said they plated them with zinc. according to the owner of the plating shop the finish is good up to 1500* the owner said he had the intake housing of his 911 turbo done with the same process.

Those fuel lines are Beautiful. will the Zinc stay shinny, or will it tend to get dull from the elements?

I have thought about these guys plating some things for me.

www.capsbhc.com click on the Good Guys link for more Bling Bling.

this is cermakrome. and they have other coatings too.

Charlie, the place iwrock took my lines to was near you, in Morgan Hill. I'll have to get the name from him. he said he has to go back down there next week, I think I may give him my oil cap and other bits to have them plated to match.

as far as the finish goes, the guy said it will stand up to a lot, but said it could be painted with clean engine enamel if its going to be in an oily area... I think the engine bay with a 617 may be considered an oily area. I think I'm going to hold of paining them with anything till i drive the car.

This is a great thread. I bought an 82' 300sd that had been converted to a manual but the trans failed and he started parting it out. I was able to save it but found alot more parts missing than I thought. He gave me the old trans and the new replacement that is cast iron? no drive shaft so I will be watching for your drive shaft mod. When I used to run demo derby cars we would use a Rigid pipe cutter to mod our drive shafts with good results. if there are any photos of the pedals or anything that a visual might help with let me know. When the 84' finnishes rusting out i will put the power plant in the 82'

SirNik, Use front half shaft from a 126 and a 123. Same diameters, easier to mate up. If you guys need more help email me as the 2,831 mile road trip (one way) is out right now.

Hey, that guy that you think is trying to sell stuff is really me.... :/

But yeah, I have donated some time and parts to this build! Should be awesome.

To all, those are zinc plated, and the finish is very very durable. A friend races his 911 Turbo, and has many of the exhaust and intake parts are plated using the same process. The finish has held up this far, and is still in good shape. Plus, its got a lifetime warranty on the finish.

Those lines look amazing. We should have taken a before and after shot, as the difference is HUGE. Charlie, I will talk to them about getting some more parts done. The guys at the shop are very very cool, and I am sure would be happy doing some small parts.

But yeah, I am jealous of the lines, as they look amazing.

For the driveline, I used South Bay Driveline in San Jose. they do the Mercedes drivelines. I had them do the shortening for the 4-spd swap, and later had the U-Joint replaced.

My dad and I are going to weld up the shaft, and then get it checked for balance at a drive shaft shop.

I'm interested in knowing how far out of balance you end up. Keep us posted.
