Hopefully not just another springs/spacers thread...
Okay, after much internal wrestling and stress I've decided to keep my oil-thirsty '81 240D and re-engine with a 5-cylinder engine either from my NA parts car or turbo 300D stick beater. Right now though the springs are crap and need to be replaced, badly. So with what's going under the hood in the next few weeks what springs and spacers should I bee using to accommodate the 5-cylinder? I figure to just go with OE as I can't seem to locate any reliable info on progressives at stock height for the W123. I just put in a new set of Bilstein HD shocks too, but the front springs are so saggy my new tires already have inboard wear after 2000 miles. So let me know y'all's thoughts on which springs/spacers to go with or if anyone has already traveled this path. I'm looking to keep stock height and level, no nose-high attitude, with the coming 5-cylinder transplant and manual tranny. Thanks!
