Idle adjust

Sounds simple enough, I haven't had a chance to mess with it but i will in a day or two. right now i'm working on the vacuum system. I'm a little more familiar with that. One of the reasons the PO sold the car was no shutoff.
I've already got the engine shutting down. the locks are the culprit, just haven't isolated the offending unit.
Thanks for everything
Jon J

I am starting to use mine as it is getting colder. Problem is when my wife uses the car and forgets to turn it down. If she drives with the front door locked, the vacuum leaks out and the car will not shut off.

Nice and simple - famous last words it should be!

Pull off the knob

Get a flat blade screw driver if you don't have a nice 2 pronged security type socket and gently knock the lock ring loose.

If I remember correctly the rest of it will come off in your hands.

I need to get one of these knobs, since mine broke. They used to be made of steel, anyone got a metal one?

I use the idle adjustment when it is really cold out.
Also found it helpful when trying to move car on ice; a little throttle caused wheel spin, slightly increased idle was like having a creeper gear and drove the car right out.

Post Fast Idle Cable

It's only meant to use briefly when the engine is dead cold, not much need for it in warm climates, don't remove it as one day you may well need it .

The little plastic thing on the end crumbles once in a while, it has a 116 part # and Mercedes still sells it .

I've never seen the adjuster knob to be metal on a W123 .

Once you've adjusted the IP and so on, the cable end is easily adjustable to give a little boost in RPM's using two open ended 13MM ATF wrenches .
