220D no sign of life, help!

I have a 1973 220D and she will not start. I have a good battery and she will turn over but she will not fire. I thought it may be a problem with my fuel pump/injection system so I replace the entire unit. I was hard trying to get the last nut under the pump to come off, I had to remove the front tire to get access. Anyway, after all of this still nothing. I don't even get smoke out of the tail pipe so I can only assume that she is not getting diesel. The glow plugs seem to work and the day glow works fine.

I installed a new primer/hand pump and still no fire. I wonder if there is air locked in the lines. Is it ok to loosen off the lines at each of the injectors and try and turn her over to see if she is receiving fuel at each injector?

I am all out of ideas and ready to give up, any kind of help would be great.

Andy
