Oil cooler line replacement
My lower hose wasn't leaking but the fitting would turn in the rubber hose so I figured it was just a matter of time.
I took one apart to see how it was assembled: ![]() It looks exactly like the AC hoses I've been working on so I figured I'd see if AC hose sizes were similar. This is a #10 hose with a #10 sleeve: ![]() It's close but pretty tight. I have some #12 hose on the way so hopefully the size will work and I can find some suitable hose. I'm not sure if AC barrier hose will work with oil...

A comparison: ![]() Only about .040" difference. The diameter of the AC fittings are slightly smaller which is good. I'm just waiting on hose...

I am curious about the Crimping Tool.
Where I used to work they had a vehicle similar to a Fork Lift except that it was huge and picked up 40 foot shipping Containers. It could stack them 5 containers High and had long Arms that stretched out to the 40 feet. It had a lot of Hydraulic Hose on it that needed replacing. They bought a Hand Crimping Tool and used Synflex Plastic Hose and the Fittings and Farrells to fit. Finally to the point; I did the Crimping of the Hoses and though appeared to do each crimping job the same I had several leak? (Make the Hoses long enough so if one leaks you have enough to cut off the leaking fitting and still have enough Hose to install another Fitting.) So what I am curious about is how reliable the crimping tool is going to be.

I am not sure who the question is directed at. However, go to the below site and find"DT71500 Air-Conditioning Hose Crimper (this may be the one the PO ordered) and to the left of the Air conditioning Crimper is Swaging Tool, hand operated online price $251 (this is the Tool that I used on the Thermplastic Hose; you buy the Dies Separatly depending on the size you need).

The #12 AC hose came in today and it looks like it will work. I ordered some ferells today so I'll know more when they come in.
Anyone see any problems using AC barrier hose? It meets the same temp/pressure requirements as oil line. http://www.goodyearep.com/productsdetail.aspx?id=6056

Thanks, and that was a fast response!
How wide of an area does the Crimping Tool Crimp. The First Barb on the Metal tubing is wider than the rest of the Barbs. When I did my Oil Cooler Hose Job I ordered 1/2 inch Goodyear Slip Fit Hose and found I could not shove it over the first Barb and I did not want to cut it off so I when to 5/8 inch Hose (which turned out OK for the first Barb but a little sloppy for the others). Update: looks like it is already completed and read to install!
