Anyone have an extra set of vogtland springs?

Looking to lower my car on 16's. The Spax psx kit comes out to $805 after shipping, some I'm wondering if anyone has the group buy vogtlands laying around...? Also interested in cobra, and H&R springs.

Thanks,
Mike

I'd say be careful doing stuff like that - some bloke posted quite recently that he had done this and they fell out (on the back).

If you end up having to resort to Europe and need some information, I posted some here

the old chop a roo.. when i was in college without any income an oxy acetylene torch provided viable means of ride height adjustment. i did restore both 300s with factory springs when i sold them off. the 190 is still around somewhere driving happily with cut coils. the sd rode just fine with bilstein hd's. the 300 rode terribly probably because i never bothered to renew the shocks. the 190 felt like a go-cart. if you have a few sets of springs to play with it might be worth to chop a coil. sorry purists.

1 coil in the front, 1.5 in the rear:

1 coil at all 4 corners:

can't remember:

oxy is a bad way to chop coils, the heat can damage the rest of the spring.
best to use a cut off tool like a side grinder etc...

Now you tell me

Back about 1961 a buddy had a 1950 Ford, we put some blocks under the front end. heated the coils and let her settle down on the blocks. looked great, and we were cool riding around with our fuzzy dice and the fuzzy around the sun visors. OH and the piston on the end of the three on the tree shifter.

I think the 123's look good lowered only if they've got euro bumpers and different wheels. Lowered with US bumpers and Bundt wheels looks kind of goofy to me. US spec with just the front lowered a bit looks pretty good though.

yep and for extra peace of mind a big bag of ice kept on the spring to keep the overall temp down.

I'm buying The Don's CLK lightweights... I would do euro bumpers, but my us front bumper serves as a hella 500 mount...

I'm going to cut 1.5 front, and 1 rear. And use bilstein HD's.

any method of chopping springs is trashy. i was pretty good with a torch, melting nuts off of rusted gm exhaust manifolds, so i was able to really red neck it up and leave the bustards in the while cutting. i certainly would loved to have euro bumpers and different wheels on my 123, but again i was broke!

The thing is tho... Cutting the springs does not weaken them nearly as much, and it stiffens the ride, not makes it bouncy.

I love the look you went for, but I'm all against torching them. I want this car to handle like sexy time. I already have the wagon swaybar for the front, and I'm going to run dual sway bars in the rear. Cutting the springs reduces body roll and stiffens the ride, which is just what I want.

With that said you're turbo looks fantastic, I'm not normally one for bundts but yours looks like a naughty dream with them.

Anthracite grey?

I have a set of h and r lowering springs, hd bisteins on front and adjustable red Konis on the back on my 280e. What would it be worth if I got them all off for someone as a package deal? They have almost no miles on them, just a season and a half autocrossing. maybe fifteen events.
