What is this throttle part and how do I replace it?

While trying to adjust the tension on the accelerator pedal (91 300D), I noticed that the white plastic part that has the thumb wheel and the screw drive is broken at the end. It's still screwed into what it's screwed into, just broken at the end, where there's a black cap.

What is this part called and is there a DYI pages somewhere to show me how to replace it?

Thanks.

Should be pretty straight forward to trace it out and determine how to route the line out/in. The hardest part will be working up underneath the dash because of the position.

Why would I work under the dash? Shouldn't I just be able to replace that part by the linkage, that white plastic part?

Yea, sorry about that. I had the throttle cable on my mind for some reason. It should be on the throttle linkage parts breakdown.

I guess the FSM calls it the adjusting screw?

At times I have trouble going from an FSM schematic to an actual repair. How would I go about replacing the adjusting screw?

It will be tomorrow before I will be able to take a look to provide details on how to repair. I need to take a look at the one in the shop to refresh my memory.

While I want to do the repair, am I safe to let it go for a while? What's the risk? It's the very end that broke such that I'm still able to have the screw drive fully screwed in.

As long as the throttle works like it is supposed to there should not be any runnability issues.

That's good to know....my concern was that, perhaps with the end broken, vibration would cause the screw to turn and potentially unscrew altogether.

Are you parting out your 300D?

I don't have a pic, but I can describe it accurately. It is an off-white plastic cylinder about 1" long and 1" in diameter with narrower cylinders coming out either end. One of the ends is a screw and looks to be about 1" long and 1/4" in diameter.

The part (MB calls it the adjusting screw) does not appear to be available separately, but rather is included with a new throttle cable (or so I assume).

Whether I NEED to replace mine is another matter....I was going to ask my indie later this week. But it's certainly firmly screwed in and all throttle operation seems fine.

What's the mileage on your 93 300D? Perhaps there are some parts I could make use of.

315K I think.
I got it with a broken timing chain, and no doors/hood/trunk lid... great black leather interior no lights either...
