Ron first video - at about 3 mins 15 you say you were closing up screws and then fiddling with the rod that comes out of the side of the venturi valve...

Randomly screwing bits in and out won't help.

You are almost certainly making matters worse. When billhard sends you some FSM information - read it and adjust the throttle linkage correctly. That's probably the rod that goes down under the engine.

Just before at about 3 mins you show the IP. You've got four hard lines going up to the injectors with a red cap next to them. That's the air filter for the IP. Oh drat later you say you are colour blind... oh well...

...Man you've got a totally different pace of life from me!

I'm in stressed out Europe - where ever you are it looks like a good life - I was wetting my self watching your video. Try that pace of life here and you'd find yourself shoved in the gutter...

I particularly like the caterpillar and foot comparison!

Got some pictures from Russia!

Here are some parts diagrams from the Russian EPC site.

Have you tried the new "Russian" EPC - PeachParts Mercedes ShopForum

It is OK for the pictures but most of the numbers you need are not matched with the pictures. It is a good start for going to the dealer though. I often print them out and say look I've found the picture - this is what I want... it stops the old it isn't in the database responses...

Pipe number 225 in the first picture above should be leak and oil free

Army and Katja... I was looking at the article again that bill linked earlier ( http://dl.dropbox.com/u/42303878/w115/FSM/07-215.pdf ) and I am thinking of going ahead and repaving the diaphragm... My question is, and this will probably seem very stupid, but where is the cover? Is it the rectangular thingy in the back closest to the firewall? If so it has two bolts an upper and lower?

Lol, yeah I did take a little sidebar with the caterpillar! Hmmmm so the red cap is supposed to have a filet in it as well.. That could be part of my problem as well (or at least a major concern for the longevity and preventative maintenance), mine is just a cap and is missing the filter material or whatever should be in there to keep dirt out... In the illustration (The top portion of the third one) you see how the back is rather odd shaped but overall square? I'm guessing that is the housing for the diaphragm?

And 383 would actually be the diaphragm..I'm guessing... I think it would be best to remove the ip for this... I'm thinking because I can forsee losing a peice of something if I don't...

Yep part 383 looks like the diaphragm to me...

Have you got a dial gauge to set up the diaphragm properly?

Just guessing isn't really going to help you.

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

DO NOT REMOVE THE IP - you will make more work for yourself.

EDIT:- The FSM does not say it is necessary (07-215 link posted above)

Place a nice big sheet under the car to catch anything you drop.

Like you say you'll be scrabbling about in the sand if you don't and probably get bitten by one of those ninja caterpillars...

Have you checked the oil in the IP yet?

You know it has a separate oil system don't you?

So this isn't engine oil but IP oil...

Exactly, it wouldn't be beneficial to fix one thing and break something else in the process. I believe I have a friend who will allow me to use theirs.. He should have one.. If not its to the auto parts store I go.. Now I have to find a diaphragm at a reasonable cost... You know the great and amazing thing about forums is their ability to unite people from all around the world.. It is truly wonderful!

Yeah it does seem to be low... Lol I know that was the first Caterpillar I have seen over here! He/She was huge! Ok, so I will leave the ip on... Just as soon as I get one I'll give it a whirl, hopefully it isn't too rough...

Just so I can understand what's going on. That diaphragm in the IP has something to do with the amount of fuel that is delivered to the injectors like an alda? High vacuum in the intake, high amounts of diesel? Failed diaphragm means more fuel than necessary being delivered under all circumstances?

Sounds right... I called mercedes.. No diaphragm for the ip or the vacuum pump! Augh! omg! I figured on doing both... When I disconnected the line from the ip it smokes like crazy! And ideas on where to get a diaphragm from?
