Bypass Thermo-Valve

A plastic piece broke off my thermo-valve and I bypassed it for now

Seems like all the thermo-valve does is make the EGR wait to function until the engine is up to temp

Is there any negative effects from bypassing it?
Like, should I even worry about replacing it?
