Quarter of a Million!!

Yes, it may not seem like a big deal to many, but I am happy about it. The 1983 300D (also known as Col. Klatter) hit 250,000 miles on my way home from work this evening. Granted that probably still makes him a lightweight in the eyes of many, but it is the first car I have had that has ever gotten that many miles on it.

Here's to another 250,000....based on the way I drive, that should happen sometime around 2030 ish.

Congrats! Only us diehard diesel owners take memories like this to heart. I remembered I couldn't wait to hit 300k in my 87 300D- so when it came time I took a video of it! Most of mine have hit that, actually only 2 of them are below 250k; the '99 and the 85 CD which just turned 200k last week. Our '85 #2 has 420k miles on it but we just recently acquired it last May, it still drives quite nice though! Love driving these cars every day, I just hate to think that one day I take it out and that may be the last time b/c someone hits me but I try to think positive! Heres to many more years of Happy Motoring to every one of us!

EDIT: Oh yeah, the '92 is just shy of 250k, so make that 3 of 'em.

Nice! I still have a blurry cellphone photo from when my 87 hit 250,000. I always get really excited by the milestones.

It had 206K when I got it, still the original motor/trans. I change oil every 5K, and I use either Shell Rotella or Chevron Delo 400. So far so good, even though I notice a bit of nailing at about 2000 RPM lately. Gonna try a diesel purge, and if that doesn't help, I'll start saving for new injector nozzles.

I recently got the 250k kilometer badge for my '74. I've verified the mileage with the previous few owners and they concur that 170k miles is about right for the car (the odo was broken when I bought it).

My goal is to get the 500k badge but that means another 140,000 miles of driving. Given that I'll put around 3-4,000 per year on the clock it's going to take some doing.

The problem with owning so many cars and having such a short commute means that I have to invent reasons to drive more.

Good luck!

I've got an 'email buddy' that has almost 700,000 miles on his '84 300 SD. Nice looking car!! Original motor, never rebuilt! He might be on here, I'd have to ask him!

W123 300TD over 250K
W124 300TD under 200K
W126 300SDL under 250K
W210 E300D aprox 175K

To think I used to be concerned about mileage over 60-70K. Laughable now.

An oddity? Good day?

My 81 300TD was at 249,997 when I parked it last night.
Rolled it over 250 this morning.

Congrats to you both.

I'm about 20,000 miles from the 250KM badge for my gasser.

I remember when my dad gave me the 300D at 189K, I thought that was an insane amount of miles.
