I really want a fanfare horn with the switch. But are they really that much louder or just different sounding?

116's are still the best but they don't have many factory switch locations.
Here's a comparison between the stock W123 horn and a fanfare horn optioned on the same car:

Two horns on a Mercedes-Benz W123-300D - YouTube

When helping install a new wiper on my sister's 190E, I gave it a once over and checked what else it needed. Checked the horns and realized why I switched to the Bosch Europas, the stock horns were so dinky

@Don: how do the Hellas sound like w/o the relay?

Outgoing Sound Wave Assault

Is not about the Cost.

'Nothing Like activating the Horn Button...
(When you're wearing Ear Plugs AND Ear Protectors)
AND Watching the Untermenschen in the Chassis in Front of You [who is Sexting her/his S.O. at the green light]
Move Forward (Involuntarily) as a result of the Sound Wave.

Of course, getting your Ass Shot 'Cause you're a little TOO frisky with the Horns
is a Lousy Day.

They seem louder. But I'll do a relay soon.

This horn is TERRIFYINGLY loud-I have it on my motorcycle. When people get too close a quick tap scared them back into the other lanes. Be sure to use a relay and mount it vertically or it will fry:

I don't see how it's possible to fit one of them in a sedan. The space is just insufficient.

The last statement would be my luck...............

All the horns I tried REQUIRED a relay to fire. The stock harness did not supply enough current to get it going.

Tired of the stock euro "meep" sound of the Benz.. I tried a horn I had laying around it didn't fire, thought it was the horn. Then I bought dual Fiam's from the auto supply store... they didn't fire. Added a relay, then they fired. But not loud enough for the money... returned them.

Finally, I just grabbed dual tone horns off a Ford Crown Vicky at the wreckers, for a few bucks. These sounded loud and large, suited me fine.

But the relay was needed.

I agree

Trying to mount any of the Nathan(s) on,in or Over a Sedan would be a task.

BUT the Stebel(s)with the Air Cooled self lubricating compressor will fit.
