I agree with you about the French engines (some are shared with other manufacturers anyway from what I can tell) my problem with them is more related to the junk they put around the engine...
way too many electronics,stop and go voodooo...etc....
also it is very very stiff car now so it is no good for any distance drive...

Have you got 58 inch bling wheels on it and rubber bands for tyres?

If so they might look good but they're not very comfortable...

nooo mate,..it is a (respectable) company car 16" 195/55 or so....

those rubber bands (we call them Kondoms) are reserved for new bmw's and blonde girls

Regardless of how much their gallon is compared to ours, etc. that's still a lot better mileage than any American cars get. Of course, our government often finds itself standing directly in the way of progress on the one hand and busy closing the barn door after the horses have run of on the other.
I believe the thinking by those who formulated our government was that the less effective it was, the better it would be for all Americans. We'd do well to remember that.

I believe that Dee8Go is referring to a quote from Thomas Paine, one of the contributors to the Declaration of Independance.

"Government is best, that governs least".

His book, "Common Sense", in 1774 or 75 helped spur on the revolutionary furvor.
