300d window regulator nut ripped through metal
I have a 1984 300d and 2 of the nuts that hold the window regulator in place and pulled through the inside of the metal door.
Of course now the window is off track and won't work. The motor feels strong and I don't think there are any teeth on the motor broken. I'm going to use fender washers to repair the inside of the door. There must have been a lot of stress put on these nuts fatigue the metal and cause it to pull through the door. Has anyone seen this before? Does the window regulator and motor need to be replaced? Does the window regulator need to be greased? Thanks for any help. Pete |

Washers sound ok as long as they don't cause interference with the regulator. |

Fender washers is what I was thinking before I read that you planned on doing it that way.
![]() Yes you should grease all the slides and the gears to keep the window moving freely. Make sure to clean it all out before adding any grease or you'll just cause more friction.

ive seen it multiple times. washers should do the trick. i would also use maybe a lock washer in there and some thread locker. go ahead and clean and lube the window while you have it all taken apart.

Thanks for the quick replies. I think welding may be over kills. Just grind down the fender washer.
1/4 inch hole fender washers from home depot work. $.25 each and an angle/bender grinder worked for me. I'm going to use the grease in the photo unless someone has a better recommendation. Thanks again. Pete |

I noticed that the white piece of plastic from the regulator was not in the track when I greased the tracks.
I removed all the nuts and bolts to get it back into the track. Lubed everything up and it's working perfectly. |
