OM61x cylinder head hidden bolts, did you miss them

While removing the OM61x cylinder head.
Have you ever missed or forgeten to remove the two bolts hidden in the timing chain area?

These bolts are clearly labled "a" on the headbolt tightening sequence diagram, and I am proud to say I didn't miss them. I presumed "a" meant to remove first and before any headbolts?

Was wondering when removing why they were so short? Was super anal stuffing the TC passage with paper towels when re-installing so I didn't drop bolt/washer into the abyss. It seems the margin for error with these bolts is huge.

I read the procedure before pulling the head, of course I didn't forget them!

Now remembering to reinstall them...that one's fun

I saw the picture with the red arrows pointing them out and still couldn,t figure out why the head wouldn,t pop loose. Memory getting bad.
