I need to test some sealed beams. I have a battery charger with settings for 2 or 6 amps at 12 volts. Which should I use?

I.M.H.O. 2AMPS, as less is more. Figuring all that is needed is to see if they light up not blind and then burn out. Hope this helps...

Do not feel sorry about that wagon. I had a similar story with big plans for a rare Euro '84 turbo... the fastest W123 I have EVER driven.

Meet "Orwell", my Panamerican expedition 300TD

Your safety (mind the car's structural integrity) is worth much more, seriously. You can put up an WTB ad for a rust-free 300TD shell with a gazillion miles on it; there's plenty of those.

Not great. I'm still sick, but finally moving around. Playing catch-up with the parts that should have been shipped out when I was more sick.

It's becoming a question of dollars. At first, I posted this car for sale as a driver. Since then, I've changed my mind. It's probably unsafe to drive as-is (While the rust I've found isn't structural, I'm worried about rust I haven't found that might be. I'll take that risk for myself, but don't want to pass it along to someone else), and I'd much rather part it out to get some cash. So, basically, I have to raise some money so I can buy a car and make some money. haha. Feels like a bit of a catch-22, since the only money I make is from the parts that I can sell.

So my friend was going to throw out a case of old, unopened ATF. So I'm driving around with 3 gal of ATF mixed with 8 gal of B50. We'll see how this goes. haha.

Ghost,

as an interlude/moral support...

At your request...I took a picture.
This is what norwegian winter does with a car, and imagine the salts fizzing away for 6 months.

Higher stance and skid plate, plus the needed extra lights for piercing the long darkness.
Also 80/100watt bulbs in the sockets of all lights. light man, light. So many f****** 18+meter semis on these winding roads....not fun.

good luck,

Jan.

Update please?

I've found a rust free 69 200D. Its in Canada tho. I was driving on farm roads (for this post), saw a benz symbol, drove to the owners place and he says he wants it gone but has been to lazy to post it. The shipping alone to your palce would be a lot. It starts and runs fine and oil is clean... ill get further details this weekend. Seats are ripped to crap tho.

Well well, I'm back in the world. Been working working working. Bought a 190e with my girlfriend. I'm still driving the wagon, but it looks like I'm getting rid of it soon. I'm buying a Ford tomorrow.

Good choice. That engine has timing GEARS. If you want to go stock FI the 95's were TBI. You could always swap in a nissan inline 6 FI system too.

The deal on the Ford fell through, so I bought a 1990 Volvo 740 wagon. It was a good deal for $700. Everything works, including the AC and original tape deck. haha. PS pump is out and it needs brakes. I'm going to fix it up and flip it.

The saga will continue with the girlfriend's 190e. That thing is so much fun.

Simplers right, you can dispense from a barrel with air pressure but be VERY VERY careful. I've done this trick and while it works you can blow the barrel up with too much pressure. I'd try 1-2 PSI which should do the job. A buddy of mine got in a hurry and popped the bottom out of my barrel of motor oil but trying to speed things up with 5 PSI.

Also - why not just take your "better" body panels to MAACO and have them spray them body color before installation? It isn't real pricey and it keeps the car from looking like garbage. Trust me, it's the way to go for cheap.

Dan
