Well an easy out might work if the plug is below the surface of the casting

You can always have it towed to your indy if you run into something you can't finish - is how I look at it. I'd have my CDI apart right now tracking down it's glow-plug issues, if I had another car. I'm considering picking-up another nice 06 CDI, so's I've got something else to drive while wrenching on this one, as well as perhaps a couple three more CDI parts cars to cannibalize - once the prices drop to a reasonable-zone. I'm all-in on these CDIs. ![]()

I see the engine shutoff vacuum actuator and the ADA. You can remove either or both. Mind how you reinstall the shutoff actuator. The pin has to engage whatever device in the IP. Just jamming it home could result in very high revs and no throttle control when you start the engine.

goal is straight shot at glowplug, just the ada needs to come off. Large bolts underneath are what I need to get at

+1 on the shutoff actuator (has a brown hose going to it).
It "hooks" onto the rack and moves it to zero fuel position to stop the engine. If you put it back in wrong it jams the rack in max fuel position. When you go to restart the engine the rack is stuck on max fuel, and there is nothing you can do to stop it before catastrophic failure. If you do remove this device, when you reinstall it, be prepared to have a swift way to deprive the engine of its fuel or air before restarting the engine. Best way is to have a large piece of wood ready to slap over the air intake. The 606 IP does not have an emergency stop lever like the 603 and 61x IPs. (Even if it did, the rack is jammed so it would be useless anyway in this circumstance.)

How do we get the ADA off. There's a large nut and a small 24mm locking nut it looks like.

Thayer, you will notice that your particular car DOES have a stop lever....very unusual for a 606....let me to surmise, in consultation with Jeremy5848 that the IP was rebuilt/replaced at some point....because it did NOT come with that lever from the factory.

What your car does NOT have is the fuel shutoff valve at the fuel filter....it was leaking so I replaced it with a bolt sans valve.
