Mine was similiar on a 602 4cyl diesel ,it wouldnt run after I had parked during a drive ,during the drive it had very low power made sounds very close to what your cars engine sounds like, towed it home .The Short story is it had a broken cam ,was sheared in two parts ,the chain would allow cyl 1-3 to turn with compression but a the 4th cylinder their was no movement for the valves to open and close due to the cam failure, take your valve cover off and Im beating youll see the same issue. If you can replace just the cam ,yahoo, the original cam has done its job for those many ,many yrs of service.

... I have a GREAT conditions 603 with the #22 head installed. RUNS VERY STRONG in my soon to be parts car 87TD... make a FAIR offer, and I'll consider it.
I was driving the car with intentions of restoring it from the tbone it endured under yountman's care... but the extensive rust, and the expense of ANOTHER radiator just made me pull the plug.
I do NOT need to sell the motor, as I have two other TD's that could use it someday... but it's available for the right price.

This sucks my friend. I've been going through your video's which is kind of like going through JFK's assassination to his inauguration.

Broken camshaft also my guess as it keeps oil pressure.

I've got a OM603 3.0L with 117,000 on it that I'd be willing to sell. Got to get rid of everything if the deal goes through on this new house in a very restricted subdivision. Gonna be hard to change, but in my case, it's needed. Anyway, you (or other forum members) are welcome to it. Over the next year, I'll be listing all the cars I have and parts as well as I make my transformation to suburbia. Stay tuned.

Don't do it. You'll absolutely hate it. I won't give up life on the little farm for the 'burbs, don't care that I spend 2.5 to 3 hours a day driving. That said, maybe by then I'll have my money sorted out and can relieve you of some of 'em. Wanted to get the ones from Suffolk but doubt I'll be sorted in time.

May take you up on it depending on what I find. What are you asking for the engine?

Let us know what you find under the valve cover, if it does turn out to be a busted cam, I have one that I'll give you for the shipping. I really want to see you running again since you just went thru all this work. Pulling and replacing the cam is a cake job.

It's deja vu with one fewer cylinder - 1992 300D 2.5 vacuum pump "FAILURE" ball bearings fell into timing chain (scroll to posts 82 and 87).
