Which brand engine mount?

It seems like the only engine mounts I can get shipped here in Canada are from brands you guys always say not to buy:
  • URO
  • DEA
  • MEYLE
  • BECK/ARNLEY
Besides getting reamed for a Mercedes mount, are there any other options I may have missed?

OR - if I had to choose one of these, which one should I pick? I don't mind having to change them every few years, Just trying to make it roadworthy

Try searching for mounts for a turbo OM617.

They are exactly the same design as your OM616 mounts, they are just a different rubber hardness making them a bit stiffer and in turn probably more durable.

I was in a similar spot in that I could only find crappy aftermarket brands for my N/A 300D. I ran a pair of Karlyn mounts for a year and they did OK. When a biodiesel leak melted the driver's side one, I ended up getting Phoenix brand turbo mounts instead and they fit perfect. They are the company that makes mounts for Mercedes - when you buy them under the Phoenix name they grind off the Mercedes star from the part.

Part number is 1232413013

Some people here fill the underside of the mounts with urethane rubber, especially good for the cheap Made in India mounts. I used black polyurethane caulk (PL1, Home Depot) and let it cure a long time. Use heater hose to leave a center hole for the big bolt.

No one has ever identified what make Beck/Arnley re-boxes.
Phoenix = Lemförder/Lemfoerder/Lemforder = genuine Mercedes
Cheapies Anchor and MTC

More than a few People have been using the Turbo Diesel Motor Mounts on the 240Ds on the W123 Chassis.

Where D911 wrote Phowniz, I suspect he intended to type Phoenix. You can find many folks selling Phoenix mounts on ebay for a relatively reasonable cost. I just searched for mercedes phoenix engine mount, and several came up.

I would only go with the better brands, like Phoenix, Lemforder, or Genuine Mercedes. The cheapy ones cant really handle the weight of the diesel motors clacking around and all.

I've been running Uro's for some time now. I don't get the idea of filling with foam or wasting money on overpriced OE. It's a half hour job to swap mounts.

Probably because it depends on what day of the week it is. I don't think that there is necessarily a lot of consistency in the reboxing world.

What bothers me is folks who draw conclusions based on a single sample. What one person pulls out of a reboxer's box might not be the same as the next.

Lemforder is available from PeachParts and at least one other US supplier for shipping to Canada.

PM me for info.

If you mean, you cannot find a Canadian supplier who sells anything else (or at a reasonable price) you are correct, Lemforder stuff is for some reason ungodly pricey here - if you can get it at all.

Put together a larger order, to justify the cost of the trip (for example, a box of filters), then have it sent to the UPS Store in Odgensburg, NY and pick it up there. They hold packages for $5 per box, just make sure to add your phone number into the address field when you make the order.

If you are in a bind and need something immediately, I have two Anchor mounts sitting on my shelf you can have for $20. Far from the best, but not the worst either from what I can tell.

The Lemförder/Lemfoerder/Lemforder ones don't cost much and last year were around $26 each and they are the are the same as the Mercedes ones except the Mercedes Star is ground off. For some reason the Phoenix Logo is still left intact.

Thanks for the ideas guys, I will have a look for the OM617 mounts.

The places I ususally look is Pelican, Rock Auto, and eBay.

I do get shipments from Odgensburg, but only when I can save $100 or more on shipping.

Someone might choose to fill their motor mounts with polyurethane in order to help prevent them from collapsing...

It's easy to see how an unfilled/unsupported mount might easily collapse...

Yep. Thats how much I paid for mine. They had the MB star ground off and the phoenix logo still on them.

efm-7, look up a 82-300D. You'll find Lemforder parts. I just checked on one Canadian site.. $25

That is a kicking deal. I bought my last set from the US at $19.95 each, but that was before our dollar sank again.

Now if someone can point me toward a cheap place to buy Rotella T6 synthetic here in Canada... it is almost exactly double the US retail price here. I saved $60 on three jugs on my last run down to NY.

Someone has their greedy fingers in the Cdn supply chain on that one.

I also have have all 3 URO Mounts on My Car for a long time. However, I fixed all of the things that cause the Engine to shake during the time the Mounts were replaced.
I already have a set of Lemfoerders for when the time comes to change them.
The Lemforeder Transmission mount is harder to find and to get a good price on.

The problem with just replacing the cheap Mounts every so often is that every so often the Power Steering Belt cuts through a Oil Cooler Hose when a Mount collaspes.
