4 speed Linkage Help Needed

Help! I have a 4 speed Getrag manual from an '83 240D in the S-10 and I'm starting on the shifter installation. I have the 1-2 and 3-4 linkage rods in place w/o issues but the reverse seems to be a bunch too short - like 2" or so. I have the shifter pinned in "N" so I'm pretty sure the shift arms are as they should be. The only possibility seems to be that the shifter mounts on quite an angle - is that right?

A pic of one installed and with the linkage in place would be a great help. I Googled it but had no luck. I was even questioning if I had the shifter backwards but that doesn't seem to be the case.

As a reminder - this is the all aluminum case trans with the reverse shift arm at the top rear of the trans case. My shift rods seem to like it if I put them in from the back (case side) so that the clips are out toward the rocker panel. This is NOT what shows in the Haynes manual but they don't specifically address the various transmission types.

I can extend that rod if needed for my application but I want to be sure I'm starting from the right place.

Thanks for any input you may have.

Dan
