A/C hose crimper Dallas

Anyone in the Dallas area set up to crimp A/C hoses and possible weld fittings?

Just curious if anyone would be willing to help out. The A/C shops want crazy money to make hoses. $50 for a 1 foot hose where the raw materials cost about $10 seems ridiculous.

Did you not just get a complete kit with hoses? What hoses do you still need?

Try HoseFast in Garland. They did my oil cooler lines and a few AC lines as well. They charge about $30 per section. Not sure what they charge if you don't need the hose replaced.

In one of the Oil Cooler Hose Threads one of our Members bought a Collar Crimping Kit and did his AC Hoses and even used the AC Hose for His Oil Cooler Hoses and all with the crimped Collars.

Rich, I only ordered the bracket from you, not the complete kit.

Thanks eaton, they're really close to me. I'll check them out. Sounds like they can weld and create custom hoses no problem.

Keep in mind that my hose kit is only $80. I am pretty sure your local hose guy can't beat that price, especially because of the custom fitting on one end....Rich

And that's why I didn't think twice about buying your hose kit! The only suggestion I would make is that the low pressure line be 1" shorter and the high pressure line be 1" to 2" longer. Both still fit and function fine but I had to do a little cussin' to get them in there.

I have thought about making the low side hose a little longer if not because of "others" welding the fitting in (I weld it in sticking out as far as possible, others might weld it in closer), but just because a little longer should not hurt. The length of all the hoses were done on the first generation bracket (on my car), so I have no way of knowing how things fit on other people's cars unless they tell me. I will add an inch on the low side hoses from now on. I could take away a couple inches on the high side hose, but I don't think the extra length is as bad as it being too short......Rich

Is this the one you were thinking about?

Rich, which Sanden head are your kits using?

The suction port on mine is #10 - 7/8 inch and the discharge is #8 - 3/4 inch. However, the condenser inlet is #10.

How are you accommodating the change in pipe/hose size from the compressor to the condenser? I have not been able to find a Sanden head that is #12 suction and #10 discharge, which is what would match the factory pipe/hose sizes.

PM'd, but for everyone else: I make a custom fitting the has a #10 fitting that connects to the condenser, and the rest is #8 hose and fitting to the compressor discharge port (#8)......Rich

I am curious about something. Has anyone ever tried using Oetiker type Clamps on the AC System. I think the results would be the same as Crimped Collar. Oetiker makes all kinds of clamps to deal with various pressures and applications beyond the ones shown in the Pic.

If there is room/space you could apply 3 Clamps per Hose end.

The advantage is that the Real Crimp Tool for the Oetiker Clamps is around $30 with copies or other makers tools for less or cost more depending on the features you need.

Or you can use a Nail Cutter or Tile Nippper at $5 or less as I did on the Oil Cooler ends of My Oil Cooler Hose to apply the Oetiker Clamps..

I have been doing some searchng and I came a cross this from GoodYear. Some Sort Of Sleeve and a pair of Oetiker Clamps to replace the Crimped Collar. I will add to this as I find more info.
Goodyear Cool Clip AC Hose Fittings

Looks similar to Oetiker Clamps is made for AC Repair
