'85 300TD, What is this filter & where do these hoses go?
I found two hoses going through the firewall near the steering column that are not connected to anything under the dash. Can anyone tell what they should be attached to?
 The first hose is from the top of the injection pump into a white plastic thing next to the ALDA. It goes from here directly through the firewall.  Second: what is this filter:  It looks like an inline fuel filter but the right side goes directly through the firewall and is disconnected, while the left side splits in two and goes to these two parts on the left fender well:
