The car has been a happy camper for the last 3 months. My friend with the local Mercedes spares yard took in a 126 with Bosch euro lights and I couldn't pass them up.

I'm debating as to how far from original I should go on this car. Part of me wants to drop it an inch, euro bumpers with a Zender/Amg looking body kit and BBS basket weaves. Part of me wants to keep it as original as possible.

Euros were a good choice.

I would probably swap to some nicer wheels & stop there for a while at least. Maybe get a few sets of different wheels of different flavors.

I think the wheels you have are best (but I'm often just awkward like that)

Exclamation Modifications

Do it as YOU like it ~ no one else is footing the bill and you have to drive it , not anyone else .

For gods sake. Keep it original. Is there really any need to eff up another great 126?

I'm not sure what I would be effing. The wheels are not original, so another period correct set wouldn't hurt.

The wheels at least are proper Mercedes wheels, have not been chromed, and don't look like some disgusting ghetto bling. However I was thinking more of mucking about with the suspension. It's a matter of opinion of course, but I've never understood the need to lower a Benz. If you want to go ghetto, go Chevvy Caprice, or Cadillac, or something. They look equally stupid in my opinion, but at least they are not 126's. Which is a perfect piece of car design to begin with.

I want it lowered 1-2".... basically the proper euro spec ride height like my euro 500SL.

Those Euro lights look great.

I like those wheels you have on now. The best way to keep the purist approach yet still modify it tastefully is to find period-correct modifications that, on a pristine car like that, are reversible.

For that 300SD, I would find 15" bundts to keep the original look; the car deserves it.

I think the car looks fantastic with the 8 hole wheels and Euro lights on there. I know everyone has them but I think some Monoblocks would look perfect with the mild drop you are planning.

I always thought the 126s sat a little high. Makes sense about the lower euro stance...never knew that. I bet it was our bumper regs.
