there were three HP ratings on the OM616...

1) Not much power
2) Even less power
3) Not nearly enough power!! 240D w/auto

Anyone that thinks a 240D is slow drives too fast.

I had thought all cars with turbo engines had tachs as standard, being a posh item. Or maybe it stopped working so somebody decided to put a clock in.

I remember seeing one of those very rare 1981 300TD turbo electric speedometers on eBay, damn I still kick myself for not getting it.

It may have to do with auto or manual trans...... and may also vary between the countries they were imported to....

The irony is that the turbo engines all came with autos, and yet my manual never had a tach

My 123.190 had a five-speed stick, no tach, so I fixed it (installed a tach).

My 85 300TDT is Euro, Auto, Turbo and has big clock no tach. It's also been verified by Vin and build sheet. Now I just have to get that big clock working again...
