So far, other than missing or broken rings, I have not noticed anything broken.
Did I miss something?

Great write up.

At the beginning of the thread I mentioned that it was a total leak at the secondary pump..Big puddle after driving it..And it pretty much leaked everywhere else to..only not so bad as the secondary pump..

After 430k miles..Maybe less than that because I think it was rebuilt one time..
It was just tired..I will be showing the forward band real soon..It is totally gone and has cut into the drum slightly..I haven't opened up the clutch packs yet..

Mike

As the service manual calls them..The Lower cover..the part where the oil filter screws on to...And the intermediate plate come of after removing the 9 bolts..

The lower cover (I call it the small valve body) and the plate come off together as they are bolted together on the back side of the plate..

Here is the center of the trans..Sometimes you feel a bit nervous with it all open like this..But the manual is a very accurate one and you just follow it step by step..And it doesn't let you down..

This little pin that locates the shifter Click Click Click arm shown earlier can now come out of it's hole..

That plate from the previous post held it from coming out..

This little piece was a bugger to get out..It was like a wedge..tight in its hole..With a very small screwdriver was able to pry it out of there a small amount and then the rest of the way with a pair of needle nose pliers..

This little plastic part sets in the intermediate plate..As the manual says, just squeeze the little tabs on the side in and it pops right out of there..

The lower cover and intermediate plate are upside down in comparison to the way it was pulled off the transmission setting on the bench..

You unscrew this little plate with the 4 screws and the intermediate plate and lower cover separate from each other..The IP lifts up and there is no balls, springs or anything like that ..that can go off to no where ville..inside the lower cover...EXCEPT these 3 little parts in the next post

After lifting up the Intermediate plate and set it aside, you see the inside of the lower cover..These are the 3 parts inside to take out for now..Nothing else is loose or sproing prone..

In the manual, it says there is suppose to be a paper gasket between the intermediate plate and what I call the small valve body or as the manual calls it..lower cover..

It wasn't there!!

So I can't believe that didn't affect the performance of the trans..leaking from one passage to the other or just leaking out side of itself and loosing pressure..

The master kit has the gasket

Taking out the shift linkage..

That bolts comes all the way out. then the shaft will pull out the side of the trans.
Since the tail shaft parts are all removed, the linkage with the indents on it can be pulled out..

Then you can pop the side seal off

This big plastic thing is what holds steady the rear split band..It keeps the band from falling out of place when it isn't activated..

The plastic piece just pops out..

Taking out the 2nd band..rear most band...Piston..

This piston tightens the band with hydraulic pressure and the piston loosens after the hydraulic pressure is released and the spring tension of the band returns the piston back to its resting position..

This band is in use when the trans is using 1-2-3 gear

Releasing the cover of the B-2 piston was fairly easy..Before I used the clamp seen here, i tapped the cover with a plastic hammer just to free it in its bore..

A small amount of pressure of the clamp and picking out the lock ring with a screwdriver was easy..
When you release the clamp, the cover is not spring loaded..I actually helped it out the rest of the way..

Then reached inside and pulled out the piston and rod..
