Lift foot off throttle and then remove key and wait for around two minutes before attempting to start car.
I know this works on W210....not sure about W211. In any case, even if you do the reset, the transmission learns your driving patterns and you wind up at the same place.

Yeah, I can see why it might be a good idea to do it once in a while at least.

The thing I'm not sure I understand about the reset is this: the computer uses the first 40 shifts after the reset to establish your driving patterns/preferences. But presumably it continues to learn after that. So it seems that, no matter what you do to "train" it during those first 40 shifts, it's ultimately going to adapt to your regular patterns, whatever they happen to be. Is that correct?

The W210 I owned from new 14-years transmission had a mind of it's own at times. If you fooled it at take-off by trouncing on it, then letting up quickly after attaining speed, it would stay in first gear until you let up on the throttle for a few seconds before Upshifting. All in all, it was a great car, engine, trans. etc. for me.

I'm certain this W211 will be equally as tremendous a car.

"C" setting gave me just under 2mpg better than the "S" setting over a full tank of fuel after repeated attempts. It was a more comfortable driving mode as well.
