UCA: bolt and washer holding outer bushing fell off!

You can see on the photos of the UCA, the bolt, washer and bushing fell off somewhere on the road. I managed to source another bolt, washer and a new bushing. Question; I believe I tightened down the bolt fairly good and tight after the UCA repair but apparently it somehow loosened and fell out.

Would it be advantageous to use locktite threadlocker on the bolt threads when I install the new bolt, washer and bushing?

I think some blue thread locker would be wise.

Exactly what thread lock is intended for. Did you torque it to factory spec? (not that I always check the manual).

I think the nuts are supposed to be self locking is plastic inside and used once. I'll try to look tomorrow. My front end is apart and new parts are on the bench.

Sorry, I'm on my phone and didn't see the pic. Locktite and torque since it came apart. I'd use blue since it came apart. That could cause a really bad day. Don't mess around.

It ought to say on the bottle what the green loctite is used for. I have used gree loctite back in the 1970s as a thread locker with no issues but cannot say that it is the same stuff as back then.
Loctite has a site you can get info from.

You might want to put something to stop the rust on the outer tip of the Sway/Torsion Bar. They tend to rust through and 1/2 of the tip cracks off.

Green is basically superglue... blue is what you want.

I think this bolt should be a dealership only item.

I can not remember for sure but I think it is 10.9 strength not the standard 8.8

This is an important part of the weird W123 / W126 front suspension design!

The dealer can get the part(s) but get ready to wait one and a half to two weeks. I scrounged up a nice used bolt and washer and Autozone has the outer bushing available special order (took about two days to arrive). It is becoming more of a challenge to obtain W123 parts from the dealership.

I'm not happy with the current state of affairs at Mercedes Benz North America in relation to vintage Mercedes Benz automobiles. I'm running for a first term as president of Mercedes Benz so that when I take office I can order the replenishment of a never ending supply of W123 and W126 parts.

The sway bar tends to rust and break where it goes through the UCA. My local indy says new bars are expensive and much labor to change. There is a repair piece that welds onto the end that is also relatively expensive for what it is. I cleaned the rust and painted with POR on 1 car and will look at the other when it is apart.

There is two types of repairs for the Sway/Torison Bar if the tips break off.

In the DIY or Wikies.

Took the car out this morning to run some errands. The squeaking has all but stopped. I noticed a little when turning right at very slow speed (under 10 MPH), but that was it.

The tips on the ends of the sway bars appear to be in good condition; for whatever reason this car was in very good condition when I first bought it over twenty years ago. Now it needs a new paint job and the interior shows wear but other than that it keeps on truckin'!!
