Oil Threads

This link (posted in a recent oil thread) should be required reading for anyone thinking of starting an oil thread? Maybe in stickies already? If not, perhaps it should be?:

I started my career working for an oil company but that was a LONG time ago! Have no strong opinions. Just thought that that link provided, at least for me, some easy to understand education on subject. For example, I had no idea about the differences in dino and synthetic multigrade performance.

It's my experience that people often feel like they know a lot about motor oil because they can cite specifics, but really they lack a base understanding of the simple principles like viscosity and are left unable to make a sound recommendation.

Educating yourself has never been easier now that we live in the age of the internet.

I'm aware of the 540 rat testing, and several BITOG members disagree with it.
