Any luck finding a new coolant expansion tank? Are there no after market suppliers of these tanks? I have spent the last few hours searching and every site says NLA or currently out of stock. Guess I will keep searching and maybe call the Classic center on Monday. Mine is still in ok condition, just looks awful. I currently have radiator pulled to thoroughly flush A/C system and thought no better time than the present to go ahead and replace resevoir/tank. Any suggestions as always appreciated.

Received email back from Classic Center this morning, they have no tanks either. Guess I will just stockpile a few when I run across them in the pull yards.

The expansion tank, part # 1245001849, is no longer available NLA. What would you suggest to do? I am thinking of hacking a W124,W126 expansion tank to fit. Which one would be a better fit or available?

Could you post some photos? When I needed a new tank for my 190DT, the stock oem item was something like $250. But Mercedes apparently invented the same thing over and over again. I found that the tank from a V8 124 was a different part number, but identical in every dimension at 1/3 the cost.

I just bought, supposed to be new old stock, from eBay. They don't have picture but the part number matches. We will see whether the seller can deliver! This is the picture I found from the Internet. I am sure I can hack something from other models as a last resort.

I had trouble too but just found one

I was lucky! I found one!

The 300e ones are available for just $18 but the 300d ones are all NLA, "No Longer Available".

You can't use one from a 300e on a 300d, won't work.

So what exactly is so damn special about the 300d tank vs the 300e tank?

The only diff I see is the thin hose from the top of the radiator tank moves from the left side of the tank to the right.

It won't work. The 300e tank is way too big for the area.
