116 booster to a 123?

Can I put my 116 brake booster into my 123? i have heard of people putting a 126 booster in there 123 but not a 116... Has anyone done this or does anyone know if it would work?

Thanks

Maybe, maybe not.

A cursory look at WorldPac indicates that a '79 SD uses a 9" booster and the 300D '79 model 123 chassis shows three different brake boosters depending on chassis number.

Hmmm...

Looks like you need to do your own homework on this one. Use the FastLane parts catalog under the 'buy parts' tab at the top of this page to cross reference part numbers between models.

I'm in the stalling mode of changing the booster on a 79 300 SD. I searched many part databases to verify the swamps so as to use one of several pick & puls, but the MB (Mercedes Budget) bit again & NEW PARTS! BUT... in searching the boosters, I found there was a change in the booster to peddle linkage on some models so do your home work.

I found out that I can put on a 126 booster on a 123 so i am getting a 126 brake booster from a friend. Problem solved! Thanks for the advice though.

Need more info on this mod

I am resurrecting this old thread because it has not been answered. I did this to a friends car today to prove it can be done. It is all bolt-in with no modifications except for stretching the brake lines. However, the results are very unsatisfactory. The booster came off a '78 300SD, and was rebuilt ($150). The car stopped fine before, so I know the rest of the brake system is good. My friend heard that the 116 booster in a 123 is an upgrade, so he brought the car and parts over for me to do it. The problem is, the car won't stop now! It takes much more pedal pressure than before to barely get the car to stop. I am wondering if the vacuum system needs to be upgraded as well. Does anyone know anyone that has successfully done this? I may have to put the stock booster back in the car so it can be driven......Rich
