I am skeptical of tuner's claims of increased fuel economy. Certainly didn't see any improvement in my tuned W210.

Keep in mind that many people's trip computers have the mpg skewed high...but they don't know it so they brag about their awesome fuel economy. 35 mpg is perfectly respectable....but the only way to get accurate numbers is to divide miles driven by gallons used over several tankfuls.

FWIW I average about 30 mpg in mixed driving. In a highway run under absolutely perfect conditions I can get pretty close to 40 mpg....but that's on an uninterrupted stretch, no wind, etc...

BTW if your trip computer is skewed one way or the other you can recalibrate it with Xentry.
40 mpg- ? How many miles of straight Expressway run do u need to drive to hit that mark?

I tracked my MPG both ways... computer and good old math... Miles / Gallons used... very close.

I hear that Xentry pretty $$$... will the Foxwell scanner read and let me re-set most codes? OR do you need Star Diagnostics$$$??

I generally get 35-37mpg on long trips.

Clean the egr first to see if it makes a difference. A sticking valve could be a lot of your problem.
