Question Where does the a/c evaporator drain hose drain out into?

I'm referring to the styrofoam hose that comes out of the bottom of the box that the a/c evaoprator is in, to allow water to drain out. Where does this empty out into? I stuck my finger down the hole, and the part that my finger landed on is oily and warm enough that I'm thinking it might be the top of the tranny. If I'm right, could the heat emanating from the tranny explain why it's getting humid inside whenever I turn the a/c off?

Unfortuantely, I dropped a napkin in the hole and can't readily get it back out (was trying to wipe up the oily substance before realizing what it was), and I"m worried that, if it really is on the tranny, that driving the car before finding it could result in a fire...

Thanks in advance!

That's right, it drains on the top of the trans.
That hose is a ***** and the replacement does not fit right, but without it you have fumes etc. dumping right into the car, not one of their better ideas.

Oh, so I actually need to use a new styrofoam hose...great... I had gotten some vinyl tube, as I had figured that it would stand up longer than the syrofoam would, but I guess the styrofoam's also serving the purpose of (at least trying to) sealing that hole.

And I definitely have to fish that napkin off the top of the tranny...fun stuff...well, at least I know what I'll be doing tomorrow!!

Warden,
I made a "funnel" out of a quart oil bottle. The pouring neck of the bottle fits perfectly in the hole and if you cut it just right you can make the "fit" keep it in place. Should last a long time too.

Jim, thanks for the idea...certainly worth a shot, eh? I just have to find a quart bottle (I buy oil by the gallon)...

Got the napkin out without too much incident, although I need to find a better place to put the bottle jack when jacking the car up...

Okay, found a quart of ATF that was almost empty...which worked out well 'cause I needed to put some tranny oil in the car (actually, I really need to change the tranny oil for some synthetic). Cut it up and put it in the spot...took some doing, but it's in there and nice and secure now. I wound up not using the hose 'cause the hose that I had was too small to get on the end of the thing...but, not the end of the world, eh?

Thanks again! Hopefully this is something that I won't have to worry about again for a looooooong time
