Rotella 15W40 at 3k mi or sooner (depends on where I am - nearest relative is >200mi away - I carry a sealable plastic oil pan with me), and in the fall when daBenz goes to bed for winter. I also put in a half quart or so of Rislone a few highway hours before the change.

HDEOs contain significantly higher levels of detergents/dispersants than PCMOs, and their lube base is typically higher quality, more shear-stable, and less volatile. Unless you were using something low-quality, I wouldnt have expected much...

1981 300SD Valvoline 10w-40 all year, change every 5 months which is about 5K mi, odometer is non functional.
1982 300D Mobil 1 synthetic 15W-50 all year, change every 5 months or 5K mi, slow odometer is reason why. Mann filters only on both cars.

300SDL now gets Mobil 1 15w-50 in the summer and Mobil Delvac 1 5w-40 in the winter. 5k mile changes, with a German filter. Camry's no longer mine so probably what ever Jiffy Lube puts in. ![]()
