Rotella 15W40 at 3k mi or sooner (depends on where I am - nearest relative is >200mi away - I carry a sealable plastic oil pan with me), and in the fall when daBenz goes to bed for winter. I also put in a half quart or so of Rislone a few highway hours before the change.

At 201,181 kilometers, I've switched to FULL SYSNTHETIC for the first time and that was approximately 100 kilometers ago. So far so good -- not a single drop of oil on my garage floor. I plan to change the oil filter at 204,181 (or 3,000 km.).

UPDATE: Now at 202,830 kilometers (1,600 kilometers driven after switching to FULL synthetic), all is well without any oil leak or oil loss. So far so good.

UPDATE: Now at 203,850 (about 2,000 km. ago) since I switched to Full Synthetic. For good measure, I have just installled a new Mann oil filter presuming that the old one would contain debris (i.e., varnish, etc..) from years of dino oil use but to my surprise I found nothing. I take it as a good, clean engine internals. No leaks or engine oil loss so far.

HDEOs contain significantly higher levels of detergents/dispersants than PCMOs, and their lube base is typically higher quality, more shear-stable, and less volatile. Unless you were using something low-quality, I wouldnt have expected much...

1981 300SD Valvoline 10w-40 all year, change every 5 months which is about 5K mi, odometer is non functional.
1982 300D Mobil 1 synthetic 15W-50 all year, change every 5 months or 5K mi, slow odometer is reason why.
Mann filters only on both cars.

300SDL now gets Mobil 1 15w-50 in the summer and Mobil Delvac 1 5w-40 in the winter. 5k mile changes, with a German filter.

Camry's no longer mine so probably what ever Jiffy Lube puts in.

I think Brian's trying to point out that your question is answered i in any number of other threads, which you can find by doing a search. This thread specifically is to list information. As was said in post 1
