My previous post in this thread most likely describes the problem and how I lucked out in getting mine to release. I do believe that you will have to reconnect the alarm (under passenger footwell false firewall) and cycle the alarm with the key in drivers door lock. I would have some one at the trunk lock listening for a buzzzzz in addition to the vacuum actuator click.
The manual overide under the rear seat did NOT work for me on the electric lock. Wiring would come from the rear seat back area probably drivers side. There is a harness there on my car. You may be able to put 12v. to one side or the other (lock/unlock) and bypass it that way. I will go out and check wire colors at the electric lock now and report back. Good luck.

Kofferaum-verriegelung (honest, that's what it's labeled) wire color update. There are three wires on an ancilliary mini-harness. Goes into the trunk from the driver's side behind the rear seat back (on my 300SD). They are:
1.) red 2.) black/green 3.) yellow/green. Hope it helps. Does anyone know what kofferaum-verriegelung means in English?
