i had a '78 with about 350K miles before it died - out of oil on the highway. i now own a '84 with 198K on it, the color is champaigne i think. clear corners, different tail lights and sound stuff, need euro headlights soon.

Doing hard duty every day

Straight off e-bay to Texas. Changed fluids, adjusted valves, replaced a few minor parts and put on the road about 70 miles per day to work and back. So far 27mpg average. This was yesterday:

Just a brief update:

1. Replaced R&L guide rod mounts myself two week-ends ago

2. Replaced oil cooler hoses last week-end--but removing old
hose from oil cooler stripped threads off the oil cooler fitting (ouch)--getting used one from Houston for good price.

Ned2683,

We used to call that color "****brendel" LOL

I have never seen an MB that color. Must be that not too many buyers ordered that color.

1984 300SD, purchased for $1100.00 with 249,999 miles, converted it with a grease car kit at 250,255 miles and have run waiste veggi for a happy 6300miles I was able to get 1189miles on my last tank of petro. I have installed new front brakes rotors, and shocks. Hope to drive it forever, it needs a new paint and a bunch of new gaskets, several oil leaks and new seat cushions(I can feel the springs and the driver side is leaning hard to the left.:p
