Intercooler radiators
Brandon,
You could look at watercooled motorcycles for a source of inexpensive radiators with small electric cooling fans... Find 'em cheap on Fleabay - bnc |

Just out of curriosity, how much current does your pump draw?

Well I found out they are about 10% efficient where an ideal carnot cycle refrigeration unit is 40%. So It probably doesn't make sense with either method. hmm... If I powered it with a mini steam turbine electrical plant driven by the exhaust heat after the turbo..... Just kidding.

Lol.
Well considering that the aux pump is rated for less than an amp draw (I think the going deal is to put a 1amp fuse in line with the aux pump for the heater right?). Its pretty low current. I purged some more bubbles today and got some pictures of the setup. I'll post them after I go grab some dinner and get the camera from the car. It seems to be working great...its nice to see EGT's drop below 1200 when running pedal to the metal coming into 4th gear Oh and thats at about 78mph btw |

Picture update.
The radiator is temporarily in place with some zip ties (is there any other way? j/k) so I can play with air flow across the rad. Yes my bumper is broken...its ugly but I haven't found a suitable replacement yet hehe. Any questions let me know...I'll probably be upping the fuel some more this weekend if it continues to perform nicely. When dad and I get some time, we are going to turn that left side (near the air cleaner) pipe down so the IC can stand up more straight without bothering the hood. Currently it all fits okay but I want it to look "better' after testing is over. And no worries about rust. I blew the pipes off a few times getting everything nice and tight in there so there is a nice oil film coating on the two steel pipes (inside and out). The aircleaner is working great and eventually (once the intercooler is exactly where I want it) I'll re-attach the intake part I cut off in a different spot and pick up outside the engine compartment air. Thanks for checkin it out! My welding isn't too bad is it? I just taught myself a few months ago and haven't done pipe before. Seemed to turn out okay. Only a little grinding needed Sorry if my car looks ghetto..its a work in progress but should turn out pretty nice. Looking at my radiator (after the fact) it looks like crap hanging there...but after all its just a test location so I shouldn't fret I guess Last edited by Brandon314159; 01-11-2006 at 11:17 PM. |

Pyrometer and boost gauge. I've posted pics before but I'll post it again so you can see what I read with. THe probe is pre-turbo and there are pictures on the forum of that installation (atleast of where the probe is) |

I'm pretty green with MB compared to you guys. I'm trying hard to catch up though.
It looks like you were able to rotate the turbo about 90 degrees to make for easier access to the port. Is there a trick to that or is it pretty straightforward? BTW, check out this gynormous intercooler from a Supra (includes a picture below): http://www.craigslist.org/sfc/pts/124645463.html He wants $210 which is more than I want to spend, especially before doing a tour of the boneyards. I'm afraid I'm going to have to go air/air until I get some welding skills and equipment. Where in the exhaust system do you mount the probe for the pyrometer?
